"Iron Man" is a 2008 American superhero film based on the superhero character of the same name created by Marvel Comics. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and laid the foundations of this universe.
The movie tells the story of the wealthy and genius billionaire businessman Tony Stark. Tony Stark is the owner of Stark Industries, a major war industry company, and has made a fortune by manufacturing weapons. One day, while participating in an arms show in Afghanistan, he is kidnapped by terrorists. During the abduction, an exploding rocket fragment is placed in Stark's body and he is asked to make a deadly weapon for them.
However, while Tony is captive with a friend, Yinsen, he realizes that weapons of his own creation are being used by terrorists and threatening the lives of innocent people. Changing his mind, Stark begins to work on removing the rocket fragment from his heart and replacing it with an electromagnet. After saving his own life, he designs a powerful armor known as Iron Man and uses it to escape.
When Tony Stark returns home, he decides to fight crime using his own technology as Iron Man. He is now determined to end Stark Industries' weapons production and make the world a better place. However, his determined actions reveal some of his enemies and dangerous forces.
The film chronicles Tony Stark's process of accepting his superhero identity as Iron Man, his personal growth and heroic actions. "Iron Man" received positive reviews from both critics and audiences and was a huge box office success. It also laid the groundwork for other films in the Marvel cinematic universe and major events that followed, creating the beginning of the MCU. Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark/Iron Man helped the film portray an iconic character
