The Joker focuses on the life of Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian. Arthur, an outcast, is all alone in life. Constantly in search of a connection, Arthur spends his life wearing two masks. Arthur, who wears a clown mask to make a living during the day, wears a mask that he can never erase at night. Growing up without a father, Arthur calls his best friend, his mother Happy. This nickname helps Arthur hide his inner pain. However, the bullying he is exposed to causes him to become an increasingly antisocial man. Slowly sailing into uncanny waters, Arthur soon finds himself in Gotham City in crime and chaos. Arthur moves away from his own identity over time and takes on the character of the Joker.
