"The Planet of the Apes: Breaking Dawn" (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is a 2014 science fiction action film. It is the second film in the "Planet of the Apes" series directed by Matt Reeves. The movie takes place ten years after the events of the previous movie. The human population has been drastically reduced as a result of a virus outbreak. The virus lowered people's intelligence and caused chaos all over the world. The same virus led to the development of intelligence among monkeys and equipped them with human-like thinking and language abilities.

The film chronicles a colony of monkeys led by a chimpanzee leader named Cesar and what remains of humans. As the tension between the two species increases, peaceful coexistence becomes possible. But some intolerant and belligerent people on both sides create an atmosphere in which conflict is inevitable.
