Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), a Scottish hunter, is mortally wounded when attacked by a bear while on a hunting trip in the region now known as the Dakota. With a very weak hope of survival, Glass is left to die in the wild by John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), a member of the team, and his son is killed. Surviving with great stamina, Glass embarks on a difficult journey to avenge Fitzgerald, who killed her son.
