"Venom" is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It was released in 2018 and serves as the first film in the Venom film series. The movie was directed by Ruben Fleischer and stars Tom Hardy as the protagonist, Eddie Brock.
The film's plot revolves around Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who becomes bonded with an alien symbiote after an investigation gone wrong at the Life Foundation, a corporation conducting unethical experiments with symbiotes. The symbiote, known as Venom, grants Eddie superhuman abilities but also introduces a darker and more aggressive alter ego.
As Eddie struggles to control the symbiote's influence, he must confront the main antagonist, Carlton Drake, portrayed by Riz Ahmed, the CEO of the Life Foundation, who also bonded with a symbiote called Riot. The movie explores the complex relationship between Eddie and Venom as they team up to stop Riot and protect the world from the symbiotes' destructive plans.
"Venom" received a mixed response from critics but was a commercial success, leading to the development of a sequel, "Venom: Let There Be Carnage," which was released in 2021. As with any film series, there might be further installments planned beyond the first two films.
